AKC CGC Canine Good Citizen

The AKC’s Canine Good Citizen Program stresses responsible pet ownership for owners & good manners for dogs. All dogs -both purebred & mixed breed dogs can participate & receive an AKC certificate upon  passing the 10 step CGC test. This session is for dogs 6 months and older. Jennifer Anderson, Principal and Lead Trainer for River Horse K9 Training is a certified AKC CGC/ UGC Evaluator.  The CGC test is administered during the last session of this 6-week course.

class requirements: one handler per dog in class (2 adult family members can attend) | no out of control or aggressive dogs — if a dog is not able to be safely or productively managed  for this class,  River Horse may recommend that the dog attend  its  Canine Citizen Basics class with  Fusion Impulse Control prior to taking the CGC or UGC class.

gear requirements: no choke chains or electric collars — flat collars preferred or harnesses, 5-6 foot leash, easy access bag with high value, small treats(non-crumbly to prevent excessive food drop), toy ( a non-squeaky tug, ball, etc.) for reinforcement if your dog enjoys engaged play)

class size:  limited to 10 dogs, depending on venue size
